Very rare Ukrainian Folk Art. Amazing, One of a Kind large, hand carved wood Backgammon Board Game with 32 wood Tokens, lined with Velour and two small Plastic or Bakelite Dice. Bas Relief Carved Knight or King has an Arrow in his Chest on one panel, Diana of the Hunt has a Bow and Arrow in her hands. The inside reveals two paintings of Knights or Kings, very well executed. There are slots to hold the tokens.

A knowledgeable Art Dealer, who traveled a lot to Europe, has seen only one of these in the last 20 years. He said it was definitely made in the Ukraine, circa 1960-70s, by two groups of people. One did the carving, other the paintings inside. It probably depicts a romantic folk art story. Size: Overall: 19 5/8" h x 19 5/8" w x 3 h.
