Viking Hnefatafl 37 Piece Full Set with Solid Oak Board. As well as being a great game, it is also ideal as a teaching aid or as part of a re-enactment display. The ancient Viking tactical game of Hnefatafl is known from the 4th century onwards. This full set of Viking Hnefatafl Game includes board and pieces.

The game includes 37 Viking Hnefatafl Gaming Pieces. The set comprises 12 Turreted Defending Pieces of 3 designs, 24 Domed Attacking Pieces of 4 designs and a Coin Inset King Piece. These replica Viking Gaming Pieces are based on real artefacts found at Viking sites such as Torksey and other UK sites.

Each piece is of hollow construction and are often associated with The Winter Camps of the Viking Great Army. It is unclear whether the game of Hnefatafl was played with a variety pieces or just two types, if you would like each attacking and defending force to be supplied as a single type then please get in touch using the appropriate code from below, we are happy to supply. The Hnefatafl board is made from solid oak, finished with a light oil. The board measures 290 mm x 290 mm x 25 mm thick and weighs a substantial 1.5 kg.

The design is engraved into the board's surface enhancing the knotwork designs. Please note that the board is made from a natural material so can vary in grain and colour.
